eau good | by Black & Blum

The majority of the industrialised world has access to good quality drinking tap water, but many people believe that bottled water is a healthier option that tastes better. As a result it is estimated that over 22 billion single use water bottles end up as landfill every year. This is a global problem that has a profound detrimental impact on our environment.

As a solution to this major problem, Black&Blum designed a high quality re-usable water bottle that encourages people to drink tap water: the eau good bottle.

Bichotan active carbon makes water taste great!
Binchotan active charcoal has been used in Japan as a water purifier since the 17th century. Binchotan charcoal is handmade using a traditional Japanese method of controlled wood burning at 1000 degrees Celsius. The wood is sourced from sustainably farmed timber suppliers. In its natural state, binchotan will naturally purify and soak up the chlorine and other odours in your tap water, while releasing natural minerals, for up to 6 months. It balances the pH level, improving the taste of your water considerably.

How it works
By placing the charcoal at the base of our 800ml eau good water bottle, this ensures that the water is constantly in contact with the charcoal allowing absorption through its small pores to efficiently purify the water. Each binchotan charcoal lasts for 6 months - after which it provides many secondary uses. Replacement charcoals are available here.

ImageSnap Custom-Printed Ceramic Tiles

ImageSnap prints on standard ceramic tile, the same tile you can buy at home-improvement stores. Daltile manufactures most of the tile we use, but we may use other brands depending on availability.

Sizes of ImageSnap’s tile conform to building industry standards. Standardization means that ImageSnap tiles should conform to ceramic tile sizes already found in your home or office or tile sizes you are using in a new project, including trim pieces.

ImageSnap sells several sizes of tile; read about each on our products page.

Glass Logs

Each of these signed and numbered glass logs is made by impressing a real piece of wood into a specially-bound casting sand, then pouring 2300 degree F molten glass into the cavity left behind.

We worked with DeWitt Design here in the Bay Area to develop these pieces for the Sunset Idea House in 2006. The pieces proved so popular during the public tours that we decided to cast them in a limited edition to make them available as home decor items. They are not for use in direct contact with flames, but we find that they light up nicely with a few strategically placed votives. Click here to order directly from the studio.
